Areas We Serve in Southeast Texas

Centered on Port Arthur, we help property owners across Jefferson County and the Golden Triangle with hurricane, wind, flood, fire, water, and other property insurance claims.

Port Arthur Public Adjuster serves Port Arthur, Jefferson County, and surrounding Southeast Texas communities. We do not operate storefront offices in each city; we come to the damaged property, inspect it, and handle the claim from there. The sections below describe the areas we cover and the insurance issues that tend to come up in each.

Port Arthur: our primary service area

Port Arthur is where most of our work happens. The city sits on the west side of Sabine Lake near the Gulf, and it has absorbed some of the region's worst storms. Hurricane Rita made landfall near the Texas–Louisiana border on September 24, 2005, and caused widespread wind damage across Southeast Texas. Hurricane Ike in 2008 pushed a large storm surge along the upper Texas coast, including Sabine Pass. In 2017, the National Weather Service in Lake Charles listed Port Arthur among the hardest-hit communities in Jefferson County during Hurricane Harvey, when more than 64,000 homes flooded countywide.

We work throughout the city's neighborhoods, including:

  • Port Acres
  • Griffing Park
  • Lakeview
  • El Vista
  • Pleasure Island, the island in Sabine Lake that is part of the city
  • Sabine Pass, at the mouth of the Sabine River; see our Sabine Pass page
  • Downtown Port Arthur and the residential areas across the rest of the city

Port Arthur's housing includes many older slab and pier-and-beam homes with composition shingle roofs and vinyl, fiber-cement, or brick veneer, while its commercial and industrial properties range from small storefronts to metal buildings serving the port and the refining and petrochemical industry. The city's hurricane flood protection levee and seawall reduce storm surge risk, but they do not stop rainfall flooding, which is why many owners here juggle three policies: homeowners, TWIA windstorm, and flood. See hurricane damage claims and TWIA windstorm claims.

Cities we serve across Southeast Texas

Beaumont

The Jefferson County seat and the largest city in the Golden Triangle. The northeast side of Beaumont was among the hardest-hit areas in Harvey, with record crests on Pine Island Bayou and the lower Neches River. Public adjuster in Beaumont.

Nederland

A Mid-County city between Port Arthur and Beaumont. The highest storm total reported from Harvey, 60.58 inches, was recorded near Nederland. Public adjuster in Nederland.

Groves

Just north of Port Arthur, Groves was among the hardest-hit Jefferson County communities in Harvey. Public adjuster in Groves.

Port Neches

A Mid-County city on the Neches River with neighborhoods close to major industrial facilities. Public adjuster in Port Neches.

Sabine Pass

The coastal community near Hurricane Rita's 2005 landfall and exposed to Hurricane Ike's 2008 surge. Public adjuster in Sabine Pass.

Orange

The Orange County seat across the Neches and Sabine rivers from Jefferson County. Orange County is outside the TWIA area, which changes how wind claims work. Public adjuster in Orange.

Other nearby communities

We also review claims from Bridge City and Vidor in Orange County, Lumberton in Hardin County, and the unincorporated Hamshire and Fannett areas of western Jefferson County, which NWS Lake Charles listed among the hardest-hit areas in Harvey. Coverage rules differ by county: Jefferson County properties are in the TWIA catastrophe area, while Orange and Hardin County properties are not.

What stays the same everywhere we work

Wherever your property is located, the process is the same: a Free Claim Review, a written contract with fees disclosed before any work begins, a thorough inspection, careful documentation, and ongoing communication with your insurer. Texas law caps public adjuster compensation at 10% of the insurance settlement, and you may rescind the contract within 72 hours of signing.

Southeast Texas also shares a few insurance realities. Standard homeowners and commercial policies generally exclude flood, including storm surge and rising water, so flood losses go to an NFIP or private flood policy. Many policies carry separate hurricane or wind/hail deductibles calculated as a percentage of the dwelling limit; try the hurricane deductible calculator. And high humidity means water damage can lead to mold quickly. Our flood damage claims and storm damage claims pages explain more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you charge more to travel outside Port Arthur?

Fees are disclosed in a written contract before any work begins; Texas law caps public adjuster compensation at 10% of the insurance settlement. Ask about your location during your Free Claim Review.

My city is not listed. Can you still help?

Possibly. We focus on Port Arthur and Jefferson County but review requests from other Southeast Texas communities. Send a Free Claim Review request and we will let you know.

Is wind coverage different in Orange County than in Jefferson County?

Often, yes. Jefferson County is a first-tier coastal county in the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) area, so many owners there carry a separate TWIA wind and hail policy. Orange County is not in the TWIA catastrophe area, so wind coverage there usually comes from the regular homeowners or commercial insurer, or the Texas FAIR Plan where applicable.

How can I check whether a storm hit my area?

Use our storm lookup tool to search a city or ZIP code for reported hail, wind, and other events. Remember that a nearby report does not prove damage at your property; an inspection is still needed.
